What is a typical day like? Each day we will meet up at a prearranged time to paint. We will meet up and travel to the location—most locations within a 10 minute walk Cindy and Theresa will provide demonstrations to help you through the process of taking what inspires you through the design process then on to a captivating painting. You are free to paint along with us or find your own spot and paint on your own. Our most recent copy of “Make Every Day a Painting” makes a handy reference during our workshops, and will be available for purchase on the first day of the workshop. Group critiques (no worries) will be scheduled around our adventures. We will visit scenic locations and paint plein air 2 days then in the studio for 2 days. Yes, you will have plenty of time to paint and explore. Of course, you are always free to follow your heart and do your own thing on any day. We encourage you to step away and explore a little on your own. |
Who goes on our tours? Anyone who wants to see beautiful destinations as an artist. We have beginners to experts, even non-painters (non-workshop rate available) who take advantage of the time to explore and have their own adventures. We’ve also had many students bring family and friends or just come alone and make new friends. Many of our students are repeat guests. We’ve researched and visited our locations so we can help you make the most of each day. While we are teaching primarily watercolor, you are welcome to work with any medium you choose, or just sketch and journal. Theresa and Cindy are both proficient in pastels, acrylics and oils. Our class size is usually 10 to 16 students. How do I get to Florence, Oregon? Florence is on the Oregon Coast about midway between Washington and California. The nearest large city is Eugene, Oregon, just about an hour away. You can fly to Eugene, or make the drive. A friendly coastal town, Florence is on the Siuslaw River which feeds into the Pacific Ocean. Nearby you can visit the beaches, Sea Lion Caves, Light House, Newport, and more. How much walking is involved? There is some minor walking involved, most of the time we are near the water on fairly flat ground. You can also park your car close to our painting location, just make sure you follow parking rules. Art Supply & Packing List. You are welcome to bring whatever professional quality watercolors you have. Simplify as much as possible, you only need a few brushes, watercolors and watercolor paper in whatever form you prefer (in a journal or separate sheets), along with a water container. Feel free to also work in other mediums. An easel is not necessary, you can even skip bringing a stool and find a bench to sit on while visiting Florence. The simpler you pack the more you’ll paint. We will send a detailed list of our preferred supplies upon signup.
Thinking about it? We need to know soon to save your space. Just give us a call or email us, we’ll be happy to answer any questions. We have been fortunate to have over 10 years of successful trips with no cancellations. Cindy Briggs 541-420-9463 Theresa Goesling 425-802-3487 makeeverydayapainting@yahoo.com |
